RMB, yuan and CNY
Renminbi (RMB) names the currency; yuan is its main unit and CNY its ISO code. This tool uses CNY. Offshore CNH quotes, collectible banknote values and a bank’s actual payout require different data.
Latest and historical rates
Select a past Gregorian date to fetch its reference observation. The published date in the result may differ from your selected date when there is no new observation that day. “Latest” means the provider’s newest available daily reference; it is not a real-time trading quote. A failed request leaves no usable result and can be retried with Calculate.
History chart and downloadable observations
Select History chart & CSV, choose two different currencies and a range of up to 366 days. The chart and table show the returned daily reference observations per 1 base currency unit. Download the same rows as CSV. Missing dates are not interpolated. Amount and fee inputs do not change these reference observations.
Method and fee assumptions
Reference amount = input amount × the returned pair rate. The optional percentage-fee scenario multiplies that amount by (1 − fee ÷ 100). It does not include fixed charges, spread or a bank’s conversion rules. Use it for a transparent comparison, then confirm the provider’s actual quote.
| Assumed rate | Amount | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| 1 CNY = 0.14 USD | 100 CNY | 14 USD before fees |
| 1 CNY = 0.14 USD | 1,000 CNY | 140 USD before fees |
| 2% assumed fee | 14 USD | 13.72 USD after percentage fee |
Source and privacy
Rates come from the Frankfurter v2 daily reference API. Availability varies by pair and date. The rate request includes currency codes and the requested historical date; your amount and assumed fee stay in this browser. No fallback estimate is substituted for a failed request.

Reference answer
RMB names renminbi, yuan is its main unit, and CNY is its ISO code. A conversion uses amount × the selected pair’s dated reference rate.
Scope: Daily reference data is not an intraday quote or a guaranteed bank payout. Failed requests do not produce a fallback quote.
