Gregorian, lunar and leap months
Gregorian dates and Chinese lunar dates use different month boundaries. A leap month repeats a month number and must be identified explicitly. A lunar month has 29 or 30 days; selecting a nonexistent day or leap month returns an error rather than changing your date.
Which zodiac boundary is used?
This tool uses Lunar New Year, so people born in January or early February may belong to the previous lunar year’s animal. Some astrology systems use Li Chun instead. A date-only year-animal lookup is not a Four Pillars chart, birth-time calculation or a prediction of personality, luck or compatibility.
Month ranges and age
The month task lists Gregorian start and end dates, including the repeated leap month. Nominal age here starts at one and increases at each Lunar New Year. Completed age counts Gregorian anniversaries; the two values are labelled separately. Customs differ, and nominal age is not legal age. Dates remain in your browser and are not added to a share URL.
Method, verification and range
Uses the existing solarlunar 3.1.0 data, with 2025–2027 daily fixtures checked against Hong Kong Observatory conversion tables. Supported Gregorian dates: 1901–2099; month overviews cover lunar years 1901–2098 so complete years remain inside that range. Not every date was independently verified. HKO notes some far-future dates may differ by one day near midnight.
