Width warning: Chinese lasts run narrow. For wide feet, search 宽楦 · kuān xuǎn (wide last) or order half a size up.

02 /How to measure your foot at home

Chinese shoe sizes are based on Mondopoint — the actual foot length in centimetres. So the most accurate way to use this converter is to measure your foot first, then look it up.

The 30-second method

  1. Place a sheet of paper flat against a wall.
  2. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall.
  3. Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe.
  4. Measure heel-to-mark in centimetres.
  5. If your feet differ, always use the larger one.

That number in cm is your true Mondopoint size — read across the chart above.

03 /Chinese shoe size questions

Is Chinese shoe size the same as EU?

Almost. Both use foot length in centimetres (Mondopoint). CN 38 ≈ EU 38. Some sellers round differently, so always cross-check the cm value, not just the size label.

What is CN 40 in US?

Roughly US 9 women's, or US 7 men's. Foot length about 25 cm.

Do Chinese shoes run small?

Usually by half a size. If you are between sizes, round up.

What does 宽楦 mean on a Taobao listing?

Kuān xuǎn means "wide last" — a wider toe-box. Useful if your feet are wider than average. The opposite is 窄楦 (zhǎi xuǎn), narrow last.
