Choose the catty definition first

Changing the region changes the catty definition, while kg, grams and international pounds stay fixed. Confirm the seller’s unit; this is not a medicine dosage calculator.

Why one catty can give different answers

Catty is an English name used for several local weight units. Modern mainland jin is 500 g; Taiwan tai-jin is 600 g; Hong Kong sima catty is 604.78982 g. A seller’s region and stated measurement practice matter. Choose that definition before entering the quantity.

Formula and reverse conversions

Kilograms = catty × the selected kg-per-catty factor. Pounds = kilograms ÷ 0.45359237. To reverse it, kilograms ÷ the factor gives catty; pounds first convert to kilograms. Calculations retain full factors and round only for display.

Example: 100 catty is not always 50 kg

100 mainland catty is 50 kg, 100 Taiwan tai-jin is 60 kg, and 100 Hong Kong sima catty is 60.478982 kg. The default remains mainland China so that existing mainland examples keep their meaning. Confirm which unit an overseas seller is using.
